Late starts, early ends and absences, without the clipboard
If the phones open at 8, someone needs to be there at 8. CyberWall Insights compares each person's first and last computer activity with the schedule you assigned, then flags the days that don't line up.
| Employee | Schedule | First activity | Last activity | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A. Rivera | 8:00–5:00 | 7:56 am | 5:04 pm | On time |
| J. Chen | 8:00–5:00 | 8:21 am | 5:02 pm | Late start |
| M. Patel | 9:00–6:00 | 8:58 am | 4:31 pm | Early end |
| S. Okafor | 8:00–5:00 | 7:49 am | 5:15 pm | On time |
| D. Kim | 8:00–5:00 | — | — | Absent |
Attendance problems are small, until they aren't
Late starts go unnoticed
Remotely, a 20-minute late start is invisible unless a customer complains.
Early logoffs add up
Leaving 30 minutes early a few times a week is easy to miss and hard to raise without proof.
Coverage gaps hit customers
Front desks, phone queues and support lines need people at specific times. Gaps show up as missed calls.
Self-reported hours are uneven
Some people round up, some round down. You want one consistent source.
Different shifts, one manager
Early and late shifts, part-time staff and four-day weeks make attendance hard to track by memory.
Set the hours once and let the report do the checking
Create schedules with start, end, break and workdays, then assign employees. Each day, the Schedule adherence report shows first activity, last activity and a status: on time, late start, early end or absent.
- Multiple schedules for different shifts and teams
- Daily status per person
- Goal achieved share for the day
| Employee | Schedule | First activity | Last activity | Status |

Check coverage at 8:05, not at noon
The Real-time page shows who is active, idle and offline this minute. When a queue needs coverage at opening time, a quick look tells you who has started.
- Active, idle and offline counts
- Current application for each person
- Filter by team or shift
Get told about long idle stretches and after-hours work
Alarm presets cover idle more than two hours during scheduled time and after-hours activity over 30 minutes. After-hours alerts are useful in both directions: they can flag a policy issue, or someone quietly working unpaid evenings.
- Idle over X and after-hours rules
- Email, Microsoft Teams and Slack notifications
- One alert per person per day per rule
When a question comes up, look at the actual events
The Activity log lists every event for a person, including screen lock, unlock and sleep. If someone says they started at 8 and the report says 8:40, you can look at what actually happened and talk about it with facts on the table.
- Per-event detail with timestamps
- Lock, unlock and sleep system events
- Export to CSV

A few honest limits
- Insights is not a time clock or payroll system. Keep your timekeeping system of record for pay.
- Computer activity is a strong signal of attendance for desk roles. It won't capture a morning spent on a site visit or a call from a cell phone.
- Use adherence reports to start a conversation. A late start can have a good reason.
- Wage-and-hour rules for nonexempt staff are your responsibility. Talk with your advisor about how activity data fits your policies. This isn't legal advice.
Questions we hear
How does Insights decide someone started late?
It compares the first activity of the day on the person's computer to the start time on their assigned schedule. If first activity is after the start time, the day is marked as a late start.
What counts as absent?
A scheduled workday with no activity at all on the person's computer is marked absent. Approved time off isn't tracked in Insights, so expect absences on vacation days.
Can different people have different schedules?
Yes. Create as many schedules as you need, with their own start, end, break and workdays, and assign employees to each.
Can I export attendance for HR files?
Yes. Reports export to CSV.
Does Insights replace our time clock?
No. It's a visibility tool. Keep using your timekeeping or payroll system for hours of record. We don't integrate with payroll systems today.
