Payroll is your biggest expense. See what it's buying.
Enter an average salary and a productive-hours goal, and CyberWall Insights shows how many people are under goal, how much capacity that leaves on the table, and what the gap costs per month and per year.
| Team | Under goal | FTE gap | $ / month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Customer service | 4 | 0.9 | $3,900 |
| Accounting | 3 | 0.6 | $2,600 |
| Sales | 2 | 0.3 | $1,300 |
Labor cost is easy to see. Labor value isn't.
Lost time has no line item
You see salaries on the P&L. You don't see the hours that went to idle time and distractions.
Overtime hides the real problem
Paying extra to get work done can mask the fact that regular hours aren't fully used.
Raises and hiring compete for budget
It's hard to defend either without knowing how well the current team's time is used.
Tool spend creeps up
You pay for software seats without knowing whether anyone uses the tools enough to justify them.
Turn hours into dollars your whole leadership team understands
The Workforce utilization and financial loss report takes the average salary you enter and the goal you set, then calculates users under goal, untapped capacity in FTE, and the monthly and annualized cost of the gap. Break it down by team and by shortfall band.
- Monthly and annual cost of the gap
- Untapped capacity in FTE
- By team and by shortfall band
| Team | Under goal | FTE gap | $ / month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Customer service | 4 | 0.9 | $3,900 |
| Accounting | 3 | 0.6 | $2,600 |
| Sales | 2 | 0.3 | $1,300 |
Check whether expensive tools are actually used
Application usage shows total time in each app across the company or a team, with heatmaps by person and hour. If a costly seat sees an hour a month, that's worth a conversation at renewal time.
- Total time by application and website
- Per-person heatmaps
- Activity groups for related tools
Fix the cause, then watch the number move
A dollar figure gets attention. Goals and trends show whether the changes you make reduce it. Set productive-hours goals, watch achievement by team, and alarm on long unproductive stretches so small problems get handled early.
- Productive-hours goal per day
- Achievement vs goal over time
- Unproductive over one hour alarm preset
Estimate it now, measure it in the trial
Want a rough number before you start a trial? The cost of lost time calculator uses the same approach: the gap between goal and actual productive hours, times hourly wage, times employees and workdays. The trial replaces your estimate with measured data.
Cost control without crossing lines
Putting a dollar figure on time doesn't require recording what anyone types or reads.
- No keystroke logging
- No email, chat or document content
- Websites by site name only
- Screenshots off by default, and never while the screen is locked
Insights sticks to how time is spent so the conversation stays about work. Read about privacy by design
Questions we hear
How is the cost of the gap calculated?
For each person under goal, Insights takes the difference between the goal and their average productive hours per day, values it at an hourly rate based on the average salary you enter, and totals it for the month and the year.
Do I have to enter real salaries for each person?
No. You enter one average salary. That keeps individual pay out of the tool while still producing a useful estimate.
Is the dollar figure money I can recover?
It's an estimate of the value of unused capacity. Some of it reflects work away from the computer, so treat it as a sizing number and look at teams with the biggest gaps first.
What does Insights itself cost?
$4 per active user per month, billed only for employees active in the last 30 days. Screenshots are an optional add-on at $2 per user per month.
Can I share the numbers with my accountant or CFO?
Yes. Export the report to CSV and send it along.
