FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about privacy, deployment, reports, pricing, security and who we are.

Privacy

Do you log keystrokes?

No, and we never will. Insights records that keyboard or mouse input happened so it can calculate active and idle time. It never records which keys were pressed. Read why we refuse to log keystrokes.

Do you read email, documents or chat messages?

No. Insights records the application in use, the active window and website names. It never reads the content of email, documents or chat.

Do you record full web addresses?

No. Websites are recorded by site name only, such as youtube.com. Full URLs and page content are never captured.

Are screenshots taken?

Not unless you ask for them. Screenshots are a paid add-on that is off by default for every company and turned on by CyberWall only at your request. They're taken only while the user is active, never while the screen is locked, and deleted automatically after 7, 14 or 30 days.

Will employees know they're being monitored?

They should, and in several states they must. The Insights agent can show employees a monitoring notice, and our policy template helps you put it in writing.

Is employee monitoring legal?

Employers in the U.S. can generally monitor company-owned computers, but some states require written notice, acknowledgment or posting. See our monitoring laws guide. It is not legal advice, so talk to your attorney.

Deployment

How is Insights installed?

We deploy a small Windows agent to your company computers through Microsoft Intune. At sign-up, an admin approves our Intune connection, and we handle the rollout.

Which computers are supported?

Windows computers. The agent works anywhere the computer has internet, whether in the office, at home or on the road.

Will it slow down computers?

The agent is a small Windows service that sends short activity summaries a few times a minute. Performance impact is negligible.

Is it installed on personal devices?

No. Insights is deployed only to company computers managed in your Intune environment.

Reports

What reports are included?

An activity dashboard, real-time view, productivity by user, productivity trends, daily work metrics, schedule adherence, productivity achievement, website, application and category usage, an activity log, and a workforce utilization and financial loss report. See all features.

How is productive time decided?

Apps and sites come pre-categorized as productive, neutral or unproductive. You can adjust categories for the whole company, for a team or for one person.

Can I get alerts?

Yes. Alarms cover specific sites or apps, unproductive or idle time over a limit, activity groups, after-hours activity and USB file copies. Notifications go to email, Microsoft Teams, Slack or a webhook.

Can I export data?

Yes. Reports can be exported to CSV.

Can I limit what each manager sees?

Yes. Access is set per manager, and managers see only their own company's data.

Pricing & billing

How much does Insights cost?

$4 per active user per month. The screenshots add-on is $2 per user per month if you want it. See pricing.

What counts as an active user?

An employee who was actually active in the last 30 days. You aren't billed for computers or people that weren't used.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. 14 days with full access. If you keep Insights afterward, billing starts at $4 per active user per month. If not, monitoring stops.

Is there a contract or cancellation fee?

No cancellation fee. You can cancel any time. CyberWall invoices monthly.

Can I add Insights to CyberWall Shield?

Yes. Shield is quoted to fit your business, and Insights can be added to it, in the same console under one login.

Security

Why should I trust you with this data?

Because security is our job, not a feature we bolted on. CyberWall runs managed IT and security for businesses, including 24x7 threat detection and response through CyberWall Shield. We built Insights with the same priorities:

  • We collect less: no keystrokes, no message or document content, no full URLs.
  • MFA is required on every login.
  • Each company's data is isolated, and managers see only their own company.
  • Screenshots are off by default and auto-delete.
  • Deployment runs through Microsoft Intune, which you control.
  • We never sell data.
  • We tested every feature on our own staff before offering it to clients.

And you can call us. We're a local IT security team, not an anonymous app.

Who can access our data?

The managers you authorize, all signed in with MFA, and the CyberWall team that operates and supports the system.

Do you sell or share data?

No. We never sell data.

Can certain sites be blocked?

Yes. Insights includes a website blocking list. Microsoft, Windows Update and CyberWall sites can never be blocked, so updates and support keep working.

Does Insights make us HIPAA compliant?

No software makes a business compliant on its own, and Insights does not claim certifications. It can help support your policies and documentation, but compliance obligations remain yours.

Company

Who builds CyberWall Insights?

CyberWall Security, LLC builds and runs it. The product is ours, and our own team supports it.

Why did a security company build a productivity tool?

Because our clients asked. They wanted to know how their teams spend the workday, especially remote and hybrid staff, and some were paying a separate vendor that had nothing to do with their security. We built the reports they asked for and put them in the same console as their security. Read why CyberWall Insights.

Can I talk to a real person?

Yes. Contact us or book a demo, and you'll talk with our team.

Do you work with other MSPs?

Yes. See our MSP partner program.

Still have a question?
