Productivity management

Define productive on your terms, then measure it fairly

YouTube is a distraction for your bookkeeper and a work tool for your marketing lead. CyberWall Insights starts with sensible categories for apps and websites, then lets you adjust them for each company, team or person, so the numbers match how your business actually works.

The problem

Most productivity conversations start without facts

Reviews based on impressions

Without data, the person who talks most in meetings can look like the hardest worker.

Busy and productive get mixed up

Fifty open browser tabs and a full inbox can mean either. You need to know which apps the hours go into.

One rule doesn't fit every role

A generic list of "good" and "bad" sites punishes the people whose jobs don't fit it.

No baseline to measure against

You can't tell whether a new process or tool helped if you never knew where you started.

Categories

Your rules, at the level they belong

Apps and sites arrive pre-categorized as productive, neutral or unproductive. Change any of them for the whole company, a single team, or one person. New apps and sites go into a pending queue so nothing is silently misclassified, and you can categorize them in bulk.

  • Company, team and person-level overrides
  • Pending-classification queue with bulk categorize
  • Activity groups such as Email or Accounting software

Trends

Watch the direction over weeks

One slow day doesn't mean much. Productivity trends stacks productive, neutral and unproductive hours by day so you can see whether a person or team is improving, holding steady or slipping over weeks.

  • Daily stacked bars across any date range
  • Productivity by user, ranked
  • Hourly timeline for any single day

Goals

Set a target everyone can understand

Pick a productive-hours goal per day and over- and under-utilization thresholds. The Productivity achievement report shows who is meeting the goal, who is short, and who may be overloaded and headed for burnout.

  • Productive-hours goal per day
  • Over- and under-utilization thresholds
  • Achievement vs goal by person and team

Alarms

Hear about a long slide before it becomes a habit

Turn on presets such as unproductive time over one hour or social media over 30 minutes. Alarms are checked every five minutes, send at most one alert per person per day per rule, and land in email, Microsoft Teams or Slack.

  • Presets you can switch on in a minute
  • Severity levels and an alarm log
  • Mark alerts reviewed or dismissed

FAQ

Questions we hear

Who decides what counts as productive?

You do. Insights ships with default categories, and you can change any app or site for the whole company, a team or an individual. New items wait in a pending queue until someone classifies them.

Is the productive percentage a performance score?

It's one input. It tells you how computer time was spent. It doesn't measure quality, customer outcomes or work done away from the computer, so use it alongside the rest of what you know about someone's work.

How are meetings counted?

Time in an app like Microsoft Teams is recorded as time in that app, and you choose how Teams is categorized. Many clients mark it productive or neutral depending on the team.

How long before the numbers are useful?

Real-time and daily reports fill in the first day. Give trends and goal achievement a week or two so a single unusual day doesn't drive conclusions.

Does Insights give coaching recommendations?

Not yet. Productivity coaching and recommendations are coming soon. Today, Insights gives you the facts and your managers do the coaching.
